Top 5 Honeymoon Destinations

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

Out of all the countries we have visited, here are our top 5 recommendations for when it comes time to pick your honeymoon destination.

One of the best parts of wedding planning is getting to pick where you are going for your honeymoon. With so many fabulous destinations out there to choose from, we wanted to help by recommending our top 5 choices based on what type of vacation appeals to you.

1. Fiji or Bora Bora

If your budget allows it, you must go to one of these real life screen saver destinations! We had the wonderful opportunity to take a 2 week honeymoon which allowed us to pick a geographically further destination than a normal vacation. We went to Fiji on our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing (blog post coming soon of our review)! If you are looking for a honeymoon that allows you to just relax as well as have some small excursions then this is the destination for you! Also the snorkeling here was unlike any other we have ever experienced!

2. Turks & Caicos

If you are looking for picturesque white sand beaches and Caribbean blue water then Turks & Caicos will fit the bill for you. It is relatively easy to get to from anywhere in the United States including direct flights from several major airports. The main island of Providenciales offers many hotel options at different price points as well as homes to rent. This tropical destination is the ideal choice if sitting on the beach, reading a good book, and drinking a tropical drink is your type of trip! Turks offers the standard beach activities of snorkeling, boat day trips, wind surfing, stand up paddle boarding, etc. but if you are looking for more excursions this may not be the spot for you.

3. Maui

Everyone needs to visit Maui at least once in their life and what better time than on your honeymoon! Maui is a very popular honeymoon destination and it is easy to understand why. It is absolutely beautiful and has some of the most spectacular sunsets we have ever seen. The Hawaiian culture is unlike any other island culture and makes it a unique place to spend your honeymoon. If sitting on the beach all day isn't your thing, then Maui offers so many other activities for you to explore. You can watch the sunrise atop Haleakala then bike down the mountain, you can take a surfing lesson, you can sail across to the island of Molokini and go snorkeling, you can take a helicopter tour or drive the infamous Road to Hana. This is the perfect destination for a couple who likes both a little beach time and a little exploring in their honeymoon itinerary.

4. Italy

If beach life is not your idea of a vacation then our recommendation would be for you to explore the beautiful country of Italy. Italy is one of the most romantic countries we have ever visited which makes it a perfect honeymoon destination. Every street, market, and restaurant just exudes romance and will make you fall even more in love with your significant other! There are so many cities to explore while in Italy and our top 3 recommendations would be to visit Rome, Florence, and Cinque Terre. Also nothing beats dining on pizza, pasta, and house wine at every meal!

5. Costa Rica

If you are having a hard time deciding between adventuring or relaxing for your honeymoon then Costa Rica is the perfect destination for you. It offers the best of both worlds! With beaches on both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, Costa Rica has both white and black sand beaches to explore. Costa Rica is also a land of volcanoes, rain forests, waterfalls, and rivers which offers endless exploration opportunities and activities. Our recommendation would be to spend part of your time at a beachside resort and then the other half at a resort up in the rainforest to experience both ecosystems of this unique country.

No matter where you end up going for your honeymoon just cherish the time spent with your new spouse and all of the memories you are making together.
